I do believe this season has the potential to be great with the return of this legendary villain. This is an interesting choice as Thrawn does not make his appearance in the Star Wars universe until after the sixth movie, Return of the Jedi. They are resurrecting the infamous villain from the extended book universe, Grand Admiral Thrawn. ![]() However, Star Wars Rebels is doing something interesting for their third season. ![]() When Disney took over the Star Wars franchise back in 2012 they decided that the books written by Timothy Zahn, also known as the Thrawn trilogy and the Heir to the Empire trilogy, would not exist in the Star Wars universe.
